Job Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, Director of Engineering to lead and scale a multidisciplinary engineering team spanning backend (Java, Python), frontend (Angular/React), and mobile (React Native) technologies. This role combines deep technical leadership, architectural ownership, and people management. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, secure, and scalable systems while developing a high-performance engineering culture. This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration and direct involvement in product delivery and technical direction.
This role is based in the Seattle metro area.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, grow, and mentor a team of full-stack and mobile engineers, driving technical excellence, accountability, and team cohesion.
Own the technical delivery roadmap across backend, frontend, and mobile platforms—ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable.
Provide hands-on guidance in architecture, system design, code reviews, and high-priority technical challenges.
Partner with Product, Data, Clinical, and other company teams to deliver cross-functional features that support patients, providers, and internal operations.
Build and enforce modern software development best practices (CI/CD, testing, observability, documentation, release process).
Make critical decisions on technology stack, system design, and team organization as the company scales.
Lead cloud infrastructure decisions and practices, ensuring cost-efficiency, resilience, and compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
Collaborate on integrating AI capabilities into our products, in partnership with AI/ML engineers and product leads.
Drive evaluation and adoption of AI/ML tools and platforms to accelerate engineering productivity and deliver advanced features.
Qualifications
12+ years of experience in software engineering, including 6+ years in engineering leadership roles (e.g., Engineering Manager, Senior Manager, or Director level).
Proven success leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in fast-paced, product-driven environments.
Expertise in designing and scaling distributed backend systems with Java and Python.
Experience building and shipping production-grade frontend applications (Angular or React) and mobile apps (React Native).
Expertise in cloud infrastructure, preferably on AWS (networking, security, monitoring, IaC, container orchestration, etc.).
Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools to improve engineering workflows or integrating AI into product features.
Strong architectural skills and a passion for building high-quality, high-impact systems.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Deep understanding of agile development and lean product methodologies.
Preferred Experience
High advantage for candidates with a background in healthcare technology, clinical systems integration, or compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2) environments.
Familiarity with LLMs, RAG, or other applied AI technologies in a product setting.
Prior experience scaling from early-stage to growth-stage startup environments.

This position is not eligible for relocation or visa sponsorship. Candidates must live within a commuting distance from the office. This is a hybrid role, onsite in the office required weekly along with remote work.

The pay range for this role is:
$180,000-$220,000 base salary USD per year (Seattle Metro Location for Job Posting)
